“Hi Beatriz, we are now in Santiago. Did a half day city tour yesterday which was very interesting. I am getting on really well with my Spanish. Enjoying speaking it. Not a lot of English is spoken here. Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to speak it.

“This class was such fun! I loved the chance to try out my basic Spanish with people who took the time to try to understand. Beatriz is very helpful and encouraging. The class was a mix of free talking and some guided conversation – both very valuable. I highly recommend this class.” (Helen)

“Beatriz and her daughter have been teaching my 7-year-old for almost two years. Beatriz and her daughter come to our home. The Spanish class lasts 1 hour and although I am not in the room, I can hear a great time being had by all.  Gales of laughter, screams and excited shouts emanate from the ‘classroom’. My son loves his classes. Beatriz chooses her material carefully and crafts her lessons very creatively.  Topics of interest to my son, current holidays or events, what he’s learning at school all go into the activities. This ensures that my son remains interested and learns by doing rather than repeating phrases that mean little to him.  Beatriz covers all aspects of the language, not just listening and speaking, but also reading and writing. I have also been impressed with Beatriz’s very regular updates to us on my son’s progress.

I highly recommend Beatriz as a Spanish tutor.  Her dedication to her students, individual lesson planning, and ability to engage my son are skills that make Beatriz uniquely successful tutoring Spanish.” (David)

Beatriz’s Café en Español has been an activity I look forward to each month. She, as well as the participants, have a great sense of humour and she puts everyone at ease. She makes sure that everyone gets to speak and coaches in an encouraging manner. The environment is natural and casual which I find conducive to learning a language.” (Zahra)

“Beatriz is an amazing teacher. She explains, encourages and enthuses her students. She is always well prepared, patient, and caters to students at all levels. I have taught English as a second language for many years and Beatriz has all the skills that are needed by language learners, to enable them to feel confident to continue trying and communicating in the new language.” (Cheryl)

“It has been a pleasure having classes of Spanish with Beatriz. Prior to taking her lessons I’ve been through a course of basic Spanish in a Community Education Centre but still could hardly say a word in Spanish. Thanks to Beatriz, during my trip to Spain several months later I could maintain a conversation in Spanish, talk to locals, and also stay trouble-free in hotels, restaurants, historic sites and numerous other places I visited. Thank you Beatriz!” (Leonid)

“I took one-on-one beginner Spanish lessons from Beatriz in Auckland in 2015 in preparation for a planned trip to Peru. I really enjoyed Beatriz’s enthusiastic teaching style and appreciated her encouragement and patience. In between lessons she was very attentive with emails, providing worksheets and exercises and feedback as required. I felt she really helped me make good progress in a relatively compressed time frame. Beatriz also went to the trouble of organising occasional social gatherings for her students so we could practise speaking Spanish with others, sometimes inviting other native Spanish speakers along to help extend us – valuable experiences, even if scary and challenging!” (Louise)

“I have been a pupil of Beatriz’s for a number of years both in the classroom and in private lessons. Beatriz is a trained teacher which makes a big difference from other people teaching Spanish in New Zealand. She has good control of a classroom with a large number of pupils but is also skilled at working with small private groups. Her training means each lesson is well planned beforehand. She always makes the lessons enjoyable, not only working from the textbook but creating games and exercises, including role plays, to help the students gain confidence in speaking Spanish. Our written homework was always marked and discussed and any requests we had for other types of information was always promptly fulfilled, for example, songs, poems and children’s stories. I can highly recommend Beatriz as a teacher in a classroom or small group role.” (Denise)
